The Florida State University Reading-Writing Center

Who We Are
Reading-Writing Center tutors are trained undergraduate and graduate students from various disciplines who are dedicated to assisting students improving their reading and writing skills. We offer a variety of locations across campus and in-person as well as on-line tutoring in order to best serve student needs.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Reading-Writing Center is to support the Universitys academic mission and community by offering innovative and timely access to tutoring services and resources. The Center seeks to foster confidence and independence in student learners by providing the necessary guidance, feedback, and encouragement required to help students understand the options, strategies, and techniques available to them during every step of the writing process.
What We Do
We offer free on-line and in-person one-on-one reading and writing tutorials for all FSU students. Our staff consists of both graduate and undergraduate students whose mission is to provide feedback that will help students develop as readers and writers of all texts. We are able to assist students with every stage of the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, and revising. In addition to course assignments, we are happy to assist with other writing tasks, such as personal statements. Students may schedule a 30-minute or one-hour appointment per day, walk-in, or schedule an on-line tutoring session (long-distance learners only). For students who require brief and/or minimal assistance, students may personally see or chat on-line with a walk-in tutor. Students may also see a tutor on a weekly-basis by registering for course credit. For faculty, we offer on-line resources and can provide a tutoring summary for referred students, if requested.
